What EMTT is used for
- Bone marrow oedema: painful fluid accumulation in the bone that is visible on MRI
- Osteoarthritis: knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, hands
- Spine: back pain and muscle tension, lower back pain (lumbago), wear of the facet joints (spondylarthrosis), herniated disc, nerve root irritation (radiculopathy)
- Tendons: tendon inflammation and tendon overuse, such as tennis or golfer's elbow or heel pain
- Sports injuries: chronic inflammation of tendons and joints, inflammation of the pubic bone (osteitis pubis)
Procedure
- Sessions: usually 8 sessions, ideally twice a week — a course therefore takes about four weeks
- Length of a session: 10 to 20 minutes
- Preparation: you do not need to undress, direct skin contact is not necessary. Please put aside your phone, bank cards, watch, jewellery and other metal objects beforehand.
- How it feels: usually a slight tapping or tingling while the pulses are applied. If it is uncomfortable, the intensity is adjusted.
- Location: MIO practice, Hietzinger Hauptstraße 143, 1130 Vienna. More about EMTT at MIO (German)
When EMTT is not used
- Not possible: during pregnancy and with pacemakers or other implanted electronic devices
- Only after careful assessment: with a tumour in the treatment area and in children and adolescents
- Please tell us beforehand: about tattoos or permanent make-up in the treatment area (they can warm up slightly) and about reduced pain sensation, for example due to nerve disease (neuropathy)
Frequently asked questions
How does EMTT work?
The magnetic pulses reach deeper tissue without skin contact. They are intended to stimulate the metabolism of diseased cells and thereby support the body's natural healing processes.
Does EMTT have side effects?
Occasionally, mild redness or pain occurs during treatment. It usually subsides within 24 hours. The tissue does not heat up noticeably.
How much does EMTT cost?
One session costs €60, a course of 8 sessions therefore €480.
When will I notice an effect?
This varies from person to person. We discuss how you are doing after the first sessions during the course of treatment.
